CMDI Tagum conducts Gender Orientation and Awareness Seminar
Grade 11 and college students of the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. Tagum City Campus attended a Gender Orientation and Awareness Seminar on 7 September 2018 at the school’s function hall.
Edgar O. Sernada, Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator and instructor of General Mathematics to senior high school and NSTP for college students, organized the said seminar.
The resource speaker, Ms. Virginia Barbara P. Nillas, is the GAD Coordinator and a college instructor at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Tagum City. She discussed gender equality and the role of every individual in the society. The most important topic tackled was on pre-marital sex and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which may lead to AIDS or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
The students actively participated in the seminar as they asked questions and clarifications about the topics. Truly, it was a successful event as every student gained additional knowledge on timely issues affecting the young adult population.
