CMDI conducts seminar on STI & HIV Awareness

CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI), through its school clinic spearheaded the “Know the Fact”, a seminar which aims to increase awareness on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) on 2 October 2018. Senior High School students and teachers gathered at the auditorium for the said seminar.

Dr. Ria Rabano, school physician and resource speaker discussed the common STIs that affect the population. “Before, it is called Sexually Transmitted disease or STD, but in the long run, it was found out that not all the people who have it acquire diseases but only have infections, so now, we call it Sexually Transmitted Infections or STIs,” Dr. Rabano clarified.

She further emphasized HIV which may lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or AIDS and the best way to avoid and prevent these is by practicing abstinence.
