CMDI Awards Bookworms
For the first time, CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) through the Learning Resource Unit (LRU) awarded 12 bookworms— senior high school and college students— for being the “Top Book Borrowers” and “Top Library Users” for the month of November and December 2016. The awarding was held on January 4, 2017 at the CMDI Library.
CMDI recognizes that students who give extra effort and dedication to study must be rewarded. “We will do this activity in a quarterly basis so that we can encourage more students to read, learn, and use our library,” said Ms. Joselita Lanao, LRU Manager.”
The awardees were selected based on their frequency of using the library and borrowing books, which was monitored and recorded by the Library Assistant, Ms. Marion Punzalan. Moreover, the Learning Resource Unit (LRU) validated the students’ class performance and it showed that additional reading is correlated with the students’ good scholastic record.

“We provide incentives to motivate them in nurturing their studies. We also provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and through selection and procurement of materials, we’re able to synchronize it to students’ curricular requirements,” expressed Ms. Mila Ramos, Librarian.
“I was surprised because I never thought that my simple hobby of going to the library during my vacant time would be appreciated by CMDI. This is one of a kind since I didn’t experience this recognition from my previous schools,” said Cathrena Valencia, college student and one of the awardees.
The institution ensures that students will be equipped with greater knowledge by continuously providing quality educational services to create competent and dedicated students. Furthermore, CMDI believes that true people empowerment begins through education—a key in eradicating poverty.
