CMDI Bay Campus to offer course in Tourism Management

As part of its mission to provide quality education for all, CARD-MRI Development Institute (CMDI) Bay Campus now offers Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management for Academic Year 2021-2022.

“Beginning the upcoming academic year, we will offer Tourism Management. We aspire to equip students who desire to have a future career in the tourism industry,” said CMDI Senior Executive Vice President/COO, Dr. Edzel A. Ramos.

Similar to other CMDI courses, the faculty will be composed of experts and practitioners in the field ensuring that students will get the knowledge and practical skills related to tourism.

“We want to produce tourism graduates that will have an edge when they get their degree here in CMDI. With us, we view tourism as one of the vehicles for the country to eradicate poverty. As such, we hope to mold and educate students to become tourism practitioners with a heart of helping poor families in the communities,” Ramos emphasized.

Also, Ramos added that having a community-based tour company under CARD MRI group, the CARD MRI Hijos Tours, Inc., will give wide exposure to students to have first-hand experience of engaging in tourism industry and relate programs aimed to improve the lives of the families and their community.

As we embrace the new normal, CMDI implemented both modular and online learning platforms in Bay and Tagum campuses to adhere to health and safety protocols of the government.

“CMDI faculty staff showed that they are capable and comfortable in both modular and online teaching as they make use of various methods and techniques like pre-recorded teaching sessions, live streaming, and discussions in a digital platform. We also provide appropriate assessment and we are always ready to receive feedback from our students to ensure continuous engagement,” he added.

He also explained that to transition smoothly into modular and online learning, the institution is continuously exploring new teaching methods to provide quality education for all.

Since it was accredited by Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) to offer college courses in 2015, CMDI now offers Baccalaureate Programs such as Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship with specialization in Microfinance; Accountancy; Accounting Information System; Information System; and Tourism Management. Also, Senior High School Programs such as Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM); Information and Communications Technology (ICT); and Home Economics (HE) were offered.

“As we continue to discover new learning methods, we at CMDI will stay in charge in overcoming these challenges brought by the pandemic and learning together through times of crisis will give us hope for a better future,” he concluded.
