Senior High School students attend anti-bullying seminar

The CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) through the Guidance and Counseling Office conducted a seminar on “Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Cyber wellness” on July 3, 2017 in its auditorium.

The seminar aimed to enhance students’ awareness on bullying/ cyberbullying as a menacing social issue; instill moral values; and guide students to avoid bullying in school.

“We should respect each other even though we are different individuals,” said Ms. Deverna Briones, Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs, in her opening remarks.

On the other hand, Ms. Jenny Lyn Casano, Registered Guidance Counselor of CMDI, further discussed the Republic Act No. 10627 known as the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013. “Bullying, in all its forms, is a serious crime, which causes psychological, physical, and emotional harm to people,” she emphasized.

Victims of bullying may experience and feel inferior, disinterested, vulnerable, depressed, stressed, isolated, and suicidal. Its corresponding sanctions and preventions were also tackled. “Please report any violations or bullying incidents to us because we are here to support you,” Ms. Casano encouraged.

“You are responsible for your own actions so think before you speak and act. Choose to have a positive attitude,” reminded Ms. Analeen Suelto, Senior High School Principal.

The seminar further reiterated that CMDI will not tolerate any forms of bullying to create and ensure a safe, caring, friendly, and peaceful academic institution— an environment necessary for students to learn, grow, and develop.

The golden rule

Bullying: not a joke
