Senior High School students get acquainted
The Senior High School (SHS) students of CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) rejoiced in their Acquaintance Party on July 21, 2017 dubbed as “Unity in Diversity”.
The event, which was organized by the SHS Department, aims to build camaraderie among students, develop a sense of belongingness, and create a strong bond guided by the seven institutional core values of CARD MRI – competence, family spirit, integrity, simplicity, humility, excellence, and stewardship.
Despite the rainy season, the sun seemed to cooperate perfectly for the students, faculty, and staff to ramp their star-studded costumes. The event started with an opening prayer led by Anceth Asher Corral, Grade 11 student, followed by a welcome remarks of SHS Principal Analeen Suelto.
One of the highlights of the event was the induction of class officers of the department. Various talent presentations were also showcased during the party. Among the activities were Ka Voice singing contest, Dance Production Battle, Mr. & Ms. Acquaintance, and Star of the Night, an award for the best dressed male and female.
For the singing competition, Myla Mae Monte, Grade 11 student, impressed the crowd with her powerful vocal skills and versatility, which led her to the top spot. Nicole Santos and Jeremae Apacionado, Grade 12 students, placed first and second runners-up, respectively. For the dance showdown, Grade 11 Simplicity bagged the highest award followed by Grade 12 Cambodia and Grade 11 Competence.
Among the activities, the Mr. & Ms. Acquaintance was the most awaited part of the event. Eight stunning pairs competed in their all-star and formal attires. The parade of beauty and brains started with “hugot lines” as their introductions, which received loud applause from the audience. The contestants also showed their intellect and confidence at the question-and-answer portion. Carl Angelo Del Valle and Fel Anne Eunice Breganza, were hailed as the Mr. & Ms. Acquaintance 2017. Leojean Montelibano and Lei Justine Pedros bagged the first place while Elliezer Helera and Veronica Guevarra got the second place.
It was also challenging on the part of the Program Committee members to select the Stars of the Night of the event as almost everyone portrayed the celebrities, movie characters, and super heroes the best way they could be. Ms. Glenda Lagarile, Deputy Director for Tertiary Education and Partnership Education Department (TEPED), and Mr. Khristian Arenz Tolosa, Personal Development Instructor, emerged as the winners.
Dr. Edzel Ramos, Vice President for Learning and Development, and Ms. Deverna Briones, Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs, graced the event and gave messages of support and encouragement.
The program ended with the awarding of special awards to students who were spotted naturally behaving the core values of the institution.
