CMDI grants scholarship to its students
The CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) awarded scholarships to 61 deserving Senior High School (SHS) and college students in a simple ceremony at its main campus in Brgy. Tranca, Bay, Laguna on August 10, 2017.
“CMDI is working to strengthen the education and training of individuals to pursue achieving their dreams. We focus on this area because we believe that education is the best way to combat poverty,” said Ms. Rona Almagro- Angulo, Program Officer. She also oriented the students on the academic requirement as well as the corresponding terms and conditions.
The scholars were evaluated based on their economic status. CMDI provides education opportunities for needy and deserving students by accommodating one scholar per household.
This scholarship program is open to all qualified CMDI students and covers the entire duration of their study provided that they maintain a general weighted average of at least 2.50 or 80%, pass all subjects every semester, complete the requirements, and graduate on time.
The Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs, Ms. Deverna Briones, advised students to study hard and put their best efforts to attain their goals in life. “Responsibility is the counterpart of this educational opportunity you have received,” she emphasized.
The presence of Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip, CMDI Board of Trustee Chairman and also the founder and chairman of CARD MRI, during the ceremony surprised and inspired the parents, students, and organizers. “We will strengthen our faculty force to provide the highest quality education and upgrade technology to keep pace with the fast-changing trends in educational system,” he assured.
“We appeal to parents to monitor, encourage, and motivate their children because we have to help each other,” said Ms. Glenda Lagarile, Deputy Director for Tertiary Education and Partnership Education Department (TEPED), in her message to the students and parents.
The parents’ smiles reflected the gratitude for the full scholarship granted to their children. Parents’ tears are joy they cannot contain as they see hope for their children and their family’s better future.
