College students showcase entrepreneurial skills
The second and third year students of Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship with specialization in Microfinance organized and held a Bazaar on September 29, 2017 at the quadrangle of the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI), Brgy. Tranca, Bay, Laguna.
The one-day sales event is part of the students’ course requirements on Business Planning and Business Opportunities and aimed to enhance students’ creativity on conceptualizing, strategizing, and implementing a business; instill an entrepreneurial mindset; and provide practical application and appreciation of the academic courses.
The students installed booths showcasing various food and non-food products and provided select beauty & wellness services to staff and students. Different selling strategies were applied to encourage customers to purchase their products.
Moreover, CMDI Chairman Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip, CMDI President Flordeliza Sarmiento, and other members of the Executive and Management Committee of the CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), united and supported the event.
“This is our first Bazaar outside the classroom and the activity was made possible through the joint efforts of the five sections I handle,” said Ms. Vilma Romanillos, Instructor of Business Planning and Business Opportunities.
The student sellers put a lot of effort, time, and resources to achieve the course objectives. “I witnessed their dedication and passion on what they’re doing,” Ms. Romanillos concluded.
“We had a lot of fun while learning the entrepreneurial process from the identification of business opportunities to sales and its execution. Because of this hands-on experience, we’re able to raise funds for our class,” said Hydie Ballesteros, college student. Indeed, it was a successful event at CMDI.
