CMDI clinches second top spot in the MINDGAEMS at UPLB
The CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) bagged the 2nd place overall and other awards in the MINDGAEMS, an inter-high school scholastic convention, on March 5, 2018 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
The UP Alliance of Economics and Management Students (UP AEMS), a duly recognized academic organization in UPLB, conducted the one-day event with the theme “Health Economy: Educating today’s youth with the proper knowledge in achieving economic development through mental health awareness”.
The intellectual gathering of 35 students and their teachers from seven high schools in Laguna aimed to promote camaraderie and boost awareness among the youth on the current economic, political, and social issues affecting the Philippines.
The five Senior High School (SHS) delegates of CMDI excelled in the following category: impromptu public speaking; economic quiz bee; poster making; and essay writing.
Kaye Rivera bagged the second place for confidently delivering an impromptu speech on the topic social economic inclusion. John Paul Quidit and Rein Romari Malabana displayed their analytical skills in applied economics which assured them of the third spot in the quiz bee.
Moreover, Rica Jane Espinosa placed third in the poster making contest for interpreting socio-economic concepts through her unique artistic talent. Lastly, Marinela Hernandez received the fourth place award in essay writing about health economy.
“We were really nervous during that time, but happy that we’ve made it with the support of our teachers,” said John Paul Quidit.
“This is our first time to join the friendly competition and we’re very overwhelmed that we’re able to bring home the awards from different categories,” said Ms. Glenda Lagarile, CMDI’s Deputy Director for Academe and Educational Partnership.
“I believe this is one of the venues to introduce CMDI to the public and strengthen our networks. We will continue to expose our students to various learning environments where they can stand out,” concluded Ms. Lagarile.
