The CARD MRI Development Institute Inc. (CMDI) revived traditional Filipino games in an event dubbed as “Palarong Lahi: Mahalin at Pagyamanin” on 27 February 2016 at the CMDI in Tranca, Bay, Laguna.

Staff and students were divided into five (5) blocks and each block competed in 12 games, namely:         1) Sack Race; 2) Luksong Baka; 3) Luksong Tinik; 4) Sipa; 5) Kadang-Kadang; 6) Piko; 7) Patintero; 8) Palosebo; 9) Siyato; 10) Tumbang Preso; 11) Sungka; and 12) Bunong Braso.

Opening activities included a parade of students and faculty members; lighting of the Palarong Lahi torch to symbolize teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the blocks; and the much awaited Cheering competition. The games were then played simultaneously until the afternoon and Block 4 or the Pink team emerged as the overall winner.

The CMDI sees the need to rekindle the interest in playing these traditional games. It not only promotes creativity and flexibility, but is proven healthier than playing games all day in mobile phones and other gadgets.
