Information System Student Society hosts Data Privacy Act Seminar

The Information System Student Society of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) successfully conducted the Data Privacy Act Seminar on July 27, 2018 at the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) Bay auditorium. Senior high school and college faculty members, officers, and staff of CMDI attended this event.

Ms. Deverna dT. Briones, Assistant Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs of CMDI, opened the program by emphasizing the importance of giving respect as one of the basic examples of valuing privacy. Student Lorena Reyna had the privilege of introducing the guest speaker, Mr. Raul Dizon, former President and Chief Executive Officer of the CARD MRI Information Technology, Inc., (CMIT) and currently the Chairman of the Board of the said institution.

The guest speaker shared important points and lectured on the Data Privacy Act of 2012, elaborating on its importance to organizations such as CMDI where the use of private information must be always in context and for its intended purpose only. The audience actively participated in the open forum to clarify a number of important points discussed.

Dr. Reagan Ricafort, DICT Dean, summed up the lessons learned and appropriately concluded the meaningful half day event.
